Novel Knit Along @ The Woolie Ewe

Are you one of the many people that love to knit or crochet? How about reading books? Do you feel like there are not enough hours in the day to devote to both and have to make a choice between two loves? Take heart, because the Woolie Ewe understands and we have come up with a plan.

Now you don’t have to choose between reading and your favorite yarn craft. We proudly present the creation of the Woolie Ewe’s Novel Knit Along! Come sit with the Ewes at the shop and knit/crochet while we listen to an audio book.

To kick start the club we’ve chosen Janet Evanovich’s One for the Money and John Scalzi’s Agent to the Stars.

Beginning on Saturday August 4th 2012 (and the next 8 Saturdays) from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.  we will be listening to One for the Money.

Quick Synopsis:

You’ve lost your job as a department store lingerie buyer, your car’s been repossessed, and most of your furniture and small appliances have been sold off to pay last month’s rent. Now the rent is due again. And you live in New Jersey. What do you do?

If you’re Stephanie Plum, you become a bounty hunter. But not just a nickel-and-dime bounty hunter; you go after the big money. That means a cop gone bad. And not just any cop. She goes after Joe Morelli, a disgraced former vice cop who is also the man who took Stephanie’s virginity at age 16 and then wrote details on a bathroom wall. With pride and rent money on the line, Plum plunges headlong into her first case, one that pits her against ruthless adversaries – people who’d rather kill than lose.

The New York Times Book Review calls Stephanie Plum “a Jersey girl with Bette Middler’s mouth and Cher’s fashion sense.” In Stephanie Plum, Evanovich has created a resourceful and humorous character who stands apart from the pack of gritty female detectives. – audible.com

Agent to the Stars, a science fiction romp of space opera proportions, is read by Wil Wheaton.

Quick Synopsis:

The space-faring Yherajk have come to Earth to meet us and to begin humanity’s first interstellar friendship. There’s just one problem: They’re hideously ugly and they smell like rotting fish. So getting humanity’s trust is a challenge. The Yherajk need someone who can help them close the deal. Enter Thomas Stein, who knows something about closing deals. He’s one of Hollywood’s hottest young agents. But although Stein may have just concluded the biggest deal of his career, it’s quite another thing to negotiate for an entire alien race. To earn his percentage this time, he’s going to need all the smarts, skills, and wits he can muster. – audible.com
